According to my mother, I’m a “jack of all trades”. I find that to be somewhat of a derrogatory term, but it doesn't have to be. I do web design/development, sound design/engineering, videography and video production, all sorts of multimedia stuff, and I love making alliances. I also keep a blog. I live, work, and play in Somerville, MA. I originally hail from New York City. |
Mission StatementIt's not about making objects, although the act itself is extremely pleasureable. It's about creating culture. It's about creating a culture dedicated to creating culture. I want to explore how communities are built, and how to interface with them in a challenging, yet organic way. So you see, my work thus far has been about community. Then again, it goes even farther than just community, it's about the interplay between a group of people and the interface by which they experience a medium. I want to talk about systems of interface on so many levels— from aesthetic choice, to function, to their impact in the market in which they're placed. |
Artist's StatementMy sole interest in art stems from a place of anger, to be frank. I'm in love with the idea of the networked art object, but I'm disappointed by the fact that the art itself is, by nature of it being "plugged in", always topical, always dependent on the zeitgeist for it's existence. The networked art object is never afforded the opportunity to be a truely personal work because the object runs on an engine provided by the crowd. In other words, you don't get to have your malic molds. But what if you could? What if you could mute net.art's requisite group voice? This would create exercises of pure cynicism in the face of net.art and its convoluted market, and would explore the tension between the facets of a networked art object that are participatory and those that are autonomous to the object itself. |
